I would be happy to test-drive the new 2.0, as soon as we resolve my
reported Mindset battery problem.
My full name is:
Ron Fitch
10741 Moorpark St. #19
North Hollywood, Ca. 921602
I've never had bluescreen problems, but the Visualizer HAS locked up
many times, requiring the Task Manager to terminate it.

Win7 x64 w/ stock win7 drivers and stock BT adapter that came w/ headset.
Audio works fine. Installed new 2.0 (while listening to audio), launched and blank/empty BWV2.0 window, I closed properly. Pulled bluetooth adapter, power cycled headset.
Retry: BWV2.0 launches and I can hear the headphones being picked up (more whitenoise in headset). Still blank BWV2.0, closed after a few minutes. Launched WMP and VLC, audio is fine. Launched Alchemy Multimedia Visualizer(AMV) and audio works, mediation bar empty. Audio cuts out after 15 seconds.
Pulled bluetooth adapter, power cycled headset.
Reretry: Launch AMV but don't start audio. Att/Med updating fine. Start music and both work for about 15 seconds and then both disconnect.
Tried with a different generic Bluetooth adapter with which only the comport is recognized (no audio/handsfree available). AMV works (med/att updating) w/ audio via pc speakers. BWV2.0 still blank screen.
So, BWV2.0 for win7 w/ stock win7 BT driver and stock BT adapter is DOA. Spins at 30% CPU w/o ever asking to scan for comport or select window (like it used to.) Good news is that it closes properly and I don't have to force it. At the same time, symptoms remain the same for AMV since it does 1 thing well ( either audio or EEG but not both.)

Yay! So, I had the previous version of the BWV1.x installed already when I installed the new 2.0. After above post, I removed BWV program via windows control panel and then reinstalled. Works like a charm now, but still it is XOR between EEG and audio otherwise it cuts out.
Moral is.... Uninstall old version then install newer version.

Hey there
I tried what simply_b told to do : tried to uninstall every bmv program i had, and then reinstall bmv 2.0 with itunes support.
The pairing is functional . The Mindset works fine, in any application.
Same for audio : I have sound from any program sending sound.
So I know that the headset CAN work in both ways.
The problem is when I want to have both audio and waves in BWV 2.0....
Seems clear to me that once the bluetooth Mindset is started, the Mindset audio is stopped. It is still connected, but I don't have sound anymore...
Sigh... I just wanted to see what a piece og Beethoven, Portishead or Radiohead did on my brain ;p
Have any idea?
Note that just like simply, I can hear when the Audio is on, due to some louder noise in my ears.
Please help
Thanks !
PS : Got a PC w/ Windows 7

Hello kaosporthis,
We've been looking into this for months, and from what we've been able to determine, it boils down to a resource contention issue between audio and SPP data at the Toshiba Bluetooth stack level on the PC. Receiving audio and SPP data at the same time seems to overwhelm the drivers, causing symptoms from dropped audio packets, to disconnecting connections, to crashing the computer (usually on laptops or lower-end systems with more limited resources). The drivers are able to handle audio or SPP data separately, but not at the same time. Some people have reported that using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack, or some other stack built into their system, seems to work better on their system, but these reports have been sporadic and difficult to reproduce on other systems.
We are continuing to explore ways to enable both audio and brainwave monitoring from the headset at the same time and make it more reliable, since it has turned out that many people are now interested in this use case. It may turn out that the only solution to make this use case work consistently for everyone would be to implement our own Bluetooth stack drivers to replace the Toshiba ones, but this is a difficult last resort solution that would take a lot of time. In the meantime, we suggest turning up your PC speakers and playing the audio from your computer instead of through the headset, using the headset to monitor your brainwaves at the same time.
Thanks for your patience and understanding! We're always trying to make the MindSet ever more useful and powerful for you!

I empathize with your situation, however, I am not having the problems you are.
I have used the Mindset on this Toshiba laptop for 6+ mos and have been able to play music thru the headset while monitoring the E-e-g with BWVisualizer.
So, know, that some people are having no problems.
It really makes me wonder what is different about your installation versus mine.

Hi Ron,
Thanks very much for sharing the info on your configuration. It is consistent with what we have been observing in our testing, which is unfortunately that results are very inconsistent from system to system, complicating and confounding our efforts to find a universal solution. For some, using the latest Brainwave Visualizer 2.0 helps (due to significantly reduced system resource consumption in this version of BV), for others updating the Bluetooth drivers helps, while for others, trying alternate Bluetooth devices and driver stacks helps. And for some, such as Ron, there are no problems at all. We'll continue to keep everyone posted via this discussion and the Knowledge Base/FAQ articles as best we can as we learn more.
