Windows 7 and bluetooth
Hello,
I just purchased a Toshiba laptop that runs Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. When I tried to install the bluetooth software that came with my Mindset, it told me that,"Your version of Bluetooth Stack for Windows isn't compatible with this version of Windows."
Please help as I greatly enjoyed my Mindset when I used it on my old Vista laptop.
Thank you,
Gerard
Hello Again,
After some online research, I answer my own question. Toshiba has a Windows 7 64 bit bluetooth stack available for download at:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId...+
and now my Brainwave Visualizer works with Windows 7 64 bit. Hurrah!! I am fine with making this a public e-mail so others do not have to do their own research.
Please answer this question: When I use it sometimes on the float game, the ball goes negative into free fall. Today it went to minus 9000m before I turned off the game. What is going on with this?
Thank you,
Gerard

Got a mindset for Christmas and am trying to set it up on Windows7. I downloaded the above mentioned driver which worked, however if I select DevB I am not able to hear music with the Brainwave visualizer program. Can anyone please tell me how to set the headset up with Blue Tooth.
Thank You,
Chris

Hello Chris,
NeuroSky will be operating with a minimal staff during the holidays. We will be returning from the holidays during the first week of January. We will be able to look into your issue in more detail at that time. Thank you for your understanding and patience, and Happy Holidays!
Best,
Kelvin

This note should help with the audio pairing:
In the instructions it talks about using the other functions of the mindset. (Off the top of my head this is what you do.)
Open the Bluetooth Manager. Click on add new device with the mindset on (and already paired since the devB is working). (If the Manager doesn't find the mindset consider putting it in pairing mode so the red and blue lights blink since I don't have it with me to double check if that is necessary.) An icon of the headphones will appear. If you double click it will open up about 5 different functions of the mindset, including the devB you chose originally. Now click on the audio sync to engage that function. The computer will pair with that function and you will be able to hear music through the mindset instead of the computer's speakers.
The Mindset also works with Bluetooth phones as a hands free speaker/mic. Just "add a bluetooth device" to the phone.
I hope that helps. I was very pleased when I got mine to finally play music, too.

I have a similar question to the above.
I would like to redirect the audio output of a Light/Sound device to the Neurosky headset so I can monitor the brainwave changes induced by the Light/Sound stimulus. Essentially, the light/sound device has a 1/8" headphone jack like most stereo devices do.
How can I redirect that audio to a bluetooth device that will communicate to the Mindset headphones? Suprisingly, the L/S manufacturer tells me they have no clue on how to accomplish this.
Your input on this will be most appreciated.
Curiously,

That may be complicated. Here is what I know. I have a stereo headset
that uses Bluetooth. It has a Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into
the 1/8 headphone jack on audio devices from ipods to CD players.
However it only communicates with the headphones that came with it.
But, I did rig up a setup that uses a bluetooth transmitter that people
can plug into a non-bluetooth phone to make it bluetooth capable. The
transmitter comes with a cellphone audio jack which is smaller than the
1/8, but Radioshack sells adapters. The idea would be to pair the
transmitter to the Mindset so the transmitter connected to the audio
source sends the signal to the Mindset. I would then pair the mindset
to the computer, which should be essentially automatic. I don't know
if pairing the Mindset and the transmitter after mindset has begun
transmitting to the computer would work.
I will see if I can get my Mindset to connect to the transmitter for
cell phones, and let you know before you go buy something that doesn't
work.
The simplest thing to do would be to use earbud headphones connected to
the light/sound device. Put them in the right ear, or both. Put on the
Mindset and make sure you still have the three 3 contacts touching your
left ear. Then you will get good sound, and be able to watch your
response. You won't have a thirty foot bluetooth range, since the
earbuds will be connected directly to the light/sound box, but it may
meet your needs.
I will do that little test on my transmitter, if I can charge it, etc.
It has been a while since I used it. Give me a few days. If you don't
here back feel free to remind me or check on my progress.
I assume you can hear sound from the computer on your mindset. Another
option would be to record into your computer from the light box with an
adapter cable that has a male 1/8 jack on each end (Radioshack etc.).
Then you could have a sound file of the light/sound box music on your
computer. You could try to synchronize playing it in sync with the
light.
Even better...simply use that 1/8 to 1/8 adapter to plug the
light/sound box audio into your computer mic jack as if to record it.
While the computer is recording, the recorded sound should be able to
be broadcasted though the computer's audio out while it is recording.
Then you will be able to hear it on the Mindset which will be receiving
the computer's audio output. You may not even need to record it each
time. It could work by pushing record, then pausing. The incoming
sound to the computer may still be broadcast.
Good Luck!

Hello again,
I don't get a lot of time to play with the MindSet due to other commitments, however I will have to say I am completely unsatisfied with the performance. I have tried to get the headset to work with both windows XP and 7 operating systems and have not had any luck with either. The headset appears to work intermittently with both systems and I am still unsure about what it is supposed to do. The headset was originally for my son, who is very into computer technology and quite literally a genius. Based on the hype this seemed to be the perfect fit for his interests. I have been involved with computer technology for over 20 years now and don't consider myself a novice, however I am completely unable to get the head set to work consistently with even your demonstration programs. At this point with the lack of support for the system I would like to know if there is a way to get a refund for the item.
Just for information purposes I have installed the Toshiba Blue tooth program as described above for windows 7. I can get the head set to consistently play audio streams, however once I try to initiate any of the supplied programs utilizing DevB the headset becomes unstable. Do you support this product at all?

Dear Chris,
I apologize for the delay in the support. Have you tried downloading the most recent bluetooth driver which is available below:
www.neurosky.com/files/BluetoothDriver.v7.00.11.zip
And the most recent Brainwave Visualizer v4142, which you can download below:
http://store.neurosky.com/products/visualizer-2-0
We continue to make improvements to the software and we should be releasing a new Brainwave Visualizer soon.
Thank you,
Masa

I guess I should be happy that I run the Mindset under Windoze Vista (32 Bit).
Overall, it has worked very well for me. My friend Valerie has been pleased with the Mindset and BW Visualizer on Windoze Vista 64, but encountered a most AMAZING screen when she tried to run Neuroboy on that computer. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Dear Adantra,
Have you looked at this FAQ that I have attached below:

If you are still having problems with it, can you open up a separate thread and I will take care of the headset.
Thank you,
Masa

Dear Ron,
Thank you for notifying this issue.
We have noticed this issue and we are looking into this issue. I believe the current workaround is to choose another Graphic Quality. The procedure is below:
I hope this helps.

Dear Vince,
Thank you for notifying this issue.
Does the workaround below work for your case?
For the bluetooth audio sound dropping out, please try downloading the most recent bluetooth driver from below:

I hope this helps.
Thank you,

I just talked got off the telephone with my colleague Valerie.
I had her start the Neuroboy program and set the Quality to "GOOD".
Voila! The problem has been resolved!!
Neuroboy is no longer doing head stands.
I wish software problems were always this easy to resolve.
Well done!
Thank You!
